(1) Is it handmade? When you are into a high quality wool area rug, you want to make sure that you buy a handmade one
(2) Knot density. Whatever your measurement unit, you would want to check your rugs KPSI (knots per square inch) metric. The density of knots will be a huge predictor of the rug’s durability, which is, in turn an important indicator of its quality.
(3) Patterns, details. Look closely: the pattern of a high quality wool area rug is usually extremely elaborate and exquisitely detailed. If you don’t see the details, then you’re dealing with something of a lower quality.
